When we experience trauma, we are often left feeling alone, misunderstood, invisible, and unsafe, even within ourselves. Through the process of therapy, we can regain hope, connection, safety, and understanding of ourselves and others. I use wide-range of evidenced-based modalities, from psychodynamic and CBT to EMDR and somatic therapies to decrease the emotional reactivity, tension, and isolation that trauma can create.  Regardless of our trauma histories, our modern world can contribute to feelings of disconnection, dissatisfaction, and uncertainty about our worth and our purpose.

I strive to create a safe, compassionate, trust-filled space in which you can show up fully as yourself, ask and answer the hard questions, strive, fail, succeed, and know you will be accepted, challenged, supported, and championed. My goal is always to work myself out of a job, and I hope you leave our time together knowing yourself, your strength, your resilience, and your power. My role isn’t to tell you what to do or how to live but rather to offer you tools and support you can use to craft a fulfilling life.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults regarding a wide range of concerns, including (but not limited to) complex trauma, dissociation, abuse, violence, anxiety, depression, and ODD. As a counselor with extensive training in feminist and multicultural theories, I approach counseling with an anti-oppressive lens and have spent most of my career working with the LGBTQ+ community, women, chronically ill clients, and immigrant and refugee populations.

I currently offer virtual services in North Carolina and Texas. I am in-network with Aetna, BCBS, CBHA, Cigna/Evernorth, Medcost, several North Carolina Medicaid plans, and United/Optum,

A California native by way of a lot of other places, Sabina is thrilled to be back in Austin after 10 years away. She graduated from Yale University with a BA in English Language and Literature and received her EdM and MA in Counseling Psychology, with a concentration in Bilingual Latine Mental Health, from Teachers College, Columbia University. Sabina is trained in a variety of specialized EMDR protocols, including The Progressive Approach for Dissociative Identity Disorder and Ana Gomez’s Sandtray-EMDR protocol. I offer services in both English and Spanish. When not being a therapist, Sabina can be found cooking, spending time with friends, advocating for excellent medical care for loved ones, and reading.
